About Atthis Press
Atthis Press was founded as an independent imprint for publishing carefully made books with something meaningful to say.
We focus on thoughtful books that bring diverse perspectives, stories that deepen understanding, and writing that reflects on identity, culture, relationships and society. Our books invite readers to see the world differently and to learn something new about it.
We are small by design, and we create each book with care, from first page to finished edition.
Why Atthis?
In Sappho’s surviving poetry, Atthis appears as a figure of affection, beauty and longing. Sappho writes of loving her, of distance and absence, and leaves her name scattered through fragments that still feel remarkably intimate more than two thousand years later. Perhaps that is part of what makes these fragments so enduring: a person preserved in a handful of words, carried through time because someone chose to write her into a story.
The name Atthis felt like a natural choice — a small nod to Sappho, to the intimacy and endurance of her poetry.
